Safety and security are paramount to a city's success. This is especially true in today's world, our communities, and Hoover, Alabama.
Perception seems like reality in our multi-media driven world. With the mall shootings in Hoover, the perception is that Hoover can be a dangerous place. But facts also matter. Pervasive crime is not the reality within our communities. Our communities are statically safer than most thanks to the hard work of our police and first responders.
However, do all Hoover residents feel safe?
Safety and security are defined differently by different people. I have asked a group of moms from various backgrounds across the city to tell me what safety and security looks like for their family. I would love to hear your perspective, too. Please, go to the home page and submit your comments into the form "Share your voice with Mitzi." Through this process, I hope to better understand the concerns of our community.
Trust builds a foundation for individuals to feel safe and secure. Residents need to trust our community services to be there for them when they need them the most. Trust is earned through communication, experiences and relationships. Part of my vision for Hoover is to strengthen trust between service providers and residents.
As a Hoover City Councilwoman, these will be my priorities:
-Keeping our city a safe place for residents, businesses, and visitors
-Funding police and first responders to meet the needs of our growing city
-Listening to residents concerns, fears, and constructive ideas about safety to ensure they are evaluated by city leadership
-Complying with state and county ordinances during Covid-19 in order to keep people safe, keep people working, and keep businesses and schools running
-Celebrating being one of the "Safest School Districts in America" and our city's other accomplishments in safety
Hoover, we are better together!
